KC4ERT To Broadcast During FunFest The Navarre CERT Amateur Radio Club will have a radio station participating in the 15th Annual Florida QSO party. This "party" is a contest for Amateur Radio operators around the state and around the world to attempt to make a "contact" in each of Florida's 67 counties. NCARC won the "Multiple Operator - Multiple Transmitter" category in their first entry of this contest in 2010. With a cadre of over 30 operators, NCARC will attempt to win their category once again this year. This year's contest proved to be a challenge as it falls on the same weekend as the Annual Navarre Beach Fun Fest. Seeing as CERT plays a major role in the logistics of Fun Fest, the club wasn't sure if they would be able to participate. However, Don Nicholson N4DGN stepped up and is coordinating the effort for the club. So with club members participating in their time off from Fun Fest duties, NCARC should once again be among the state leaders in their category. For more information on how you can participate, contact Don.

Since the bulk of commercial and public communications are often destroyed in a disaster, communications during emergency situations are usually provided by licensed Amateur Radio operators. They have a robust network and train often to support this activity. Amateur radio includes voice communications, digital, video, satellite, moon-bounce, and many other modes and interests in this great hobby. Learning Morse code is no longer a requirement! Feel free to look through this site. It provides information to the Navarre CERT Amateur Radio Club membership as well as any interested individuals.
