ARRL Field Day 2010

ARRL Field Day 2010 was a lot of fun. The radio gods were smiling as all the bands were quite open during the entire event. Although we only had a total of 10 CERT team/ham club members come out during the 24 hour operations period (along with 5-6 "draftees"), we all had a great time!

The final totals are as follows:
CW: 28
Digital: 54
Phone: 362
Total Contacts: 526
This was more than double our number of contacts from last year!

I'd like to add a few kudo's of my own:

  • N4DGN and KD5YUT for allowing us to use their radios and antennas
  • AI4NS for the use of his tower
  • N4DGN, KJ4JDT, AJ4EG for handling the overnight shift
  • Papa John's for their delivery of three free pizzas for our overnight crew
  • Midway FD for the use of their command bus. We have some great ideas for its use next year!
  • Bill Lowry, W1VV, for stopping by and demonstrating his CW ability and getting us our 28 CW contacts.

Mark your calendars for the last weekend in June 2011 as we hope to do it all again!

Florida QSO Party

We had a great time participating in the Florida QSO Party on Saturday, April 24. Jim Dunbar, K4PV, came down from Milton to assist our club. For those who weren't there, Jim is an excellent contester and offered considerable and valuable advice to the few NCARC members who were there.  We look forward to his participation and assistance in Field Day.
